Zimala Review: Walking down the street towards looking for Ice Bar Orlando, I was first greeted with the image of a giant white bear standing in front a small building entrance. First thought “hope this isn’t touristy”. Once inside though,the non-ice bar part of the bar was nicely decorated and the hostess pleasantly refreshing as we were greeted and asked if we had an appointment. Being the second one’s we introduced ourselves to the group in front of us and started to get our “thermal gear” on, which included a parka and some gloves(definitely needed). Walking into the ice bar the chill 27 degree air immediately runs across your skin and as you look around nothing but ice back lit with colored lighting that slowly fades into other colors. A look around reveals a giant ice throne, bear sculpture, tables, benches, and my favorite a large penguin statue. We saddled up to the ice bar and ordered a drink. Although not a full bar, in fact they only serve vodka in the ice bar area, the drink selection included a dozen or so flavored vodka’s and mixers served in ice glasses. I highly suggest the raspberry. The bartender was great and we chatted for a few minutes before getting down to picture taking. Things to beware of: setting your ice cup on an ice bar….it slides…in fact mine slide right off the table when my parka caught it spilling my tasty drink. No worries though, the drinks were affordable and overall the ice bar was an awesome experience. For those of you saying “only 45 min?” I thought the same thing, but after 45 min in that cold your fingers will be getting numb and a nice warm up in the fire lounge hits the spot.
